Joseph Silver focuses his practice on Social Security Disability and has practiced disability law at Silver & Silver since 2014. He represents individuals before state and federal courts and administrative agencies in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware. He is a member of the Philadelphia Bar Association and is a co-chair of the Association’s Disability Law Committee. He is also on the Board of Directors of the Ardmore Initiative.
Mr. Silver has been recognized as a “Top Lawyer” by Main Line Today in 2018 and 2019 and as a “Rising Star” in the disability field by Super Lawyers Magazine, an accolade only given to about 0.05% of disability attorneys.
Mr. Silver received a Juris Doctorate and Master’s Degree in Media Studies from Duke University (2013) and a Bachelors of Arts Degree from Amherst College, where he studied literature and music. In law school, Mr. Silver worked with Duke’s Veteran’s Disability Law Project and the school’s AIDS Legal Assistance Project, where he helped disabled individuals with Social Security Disability and Veterans Disability benefits claims. He was also an active member of the Duke Law Intellectual Property and Cyberlaw Society and concentrated in technology, intellectual property, and cyber surveillance law and policy.
Prior to joining Silver & Silver, Mr. Silver reported on law and technology for an online media publication, Ars Technica, focusing on legal issues related to privacy, data security, and intellectual property. Mr. Silver has also previously worked for the American Civil Liberties Union trying to improve the digital civil liberties landscape and writing about technology developments.
